1st Neck Point Scouting Group, Nanaimo

Fantastic first camp on de Courcy island

On Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September, the 1st Neck Point Scout troop took to the water on their first camp of the 2012/13 season.  Using the new clipper canoes, most of the troop paddled over 9km from Cedar by the Sea, south of Nanaimo to de Courcy island.  With fantastic weather and calm seas, the trip was flawless and provided the youth the oppotunity to experiment with the new filming equipment and in the presence of the older scouts as film crew.

With an overnight camp spent outside tents, the youth stayed at Pirates Cove an held a lamp fire (in light of the fire ban) and several activities.
