Canadian Jamboree 2013 - CJ2013

CJ 2013Canadian Scout Jamboree 2013

CJ'13 will bring youth, leaders and volunteers from across the country and from around the world together for the ultimate Scouting experience. Scouts will share friendship and adventure while experiencing personal development that only a jamboree experience can bring.

1st Neck Point plans on attending this awesome event and we now need to know if your youth would like to be a part of this. Below are some of the most important details that you need to know up front.

The Canadian Scout Jamboree 2013 (CJ'13) is being held in Sylvan Lake, Alberta from July 6 to 13, 2013.

Participant Registration Fee:

  • Before Jan. 1, 2013: $650* per participant (unit youth and Leaders)
*Registration must be received and fees paid in full by Jan. 1, 2013 to qualify for this rate.
  • After Jan. 1, 2013: $750 per participant (unit youth and Leaders)

Unit Composition: Participants need to register in units of no more than ten (10), and no less than five (5), including two (2) registered leaders. A Jamboree unit is a group of Scouts who, along with two (2) adult leaders, camp and participate in Jamboree program activities as a group.

We currently have 4 adult leaders who have indicated that they would attend so we are looking at a
maximum of 16 youth.

For more info go to the website at http://www.scouts.ca/cj13/index.html

We are still looking at transportation options and costs but I would anticipate an additional $150 to
cover this portion of the trip.

How do we plan on doing this?
The sixteen spots currently available will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We will need a deposit cheque for $200 per youth to secure that spot. We will register Patrols as soon as they are complete and registration opens. Please remember that this event will be extremely popular so space could well be limited.

Following the initial cheque we will need subsequent cheques for $150 at the end of November, December and January to cover the FULL cost of participation in the event itself. We will look at transportation later.

Following confirmation of attendees we will hold a meeting of the families attending to arrange some fundraising activities to reduce the cost for those families. This will mean that you will get a refund back on the cost outlaid to secure your spot.

I am fully aware that this payment plan is a big ask for many families including my own as I will have 3 youth attending this event however it is the only way we can be in a position to confirm spots as soon as they are available.

The real important thing for all the parents to think about is that this will be an experience that these youth will remember for a lifetime. It could even be possibly the largest event that they will EVER attend.

Should you have any questions or other queries do not hesitate to talk to me.
